Drum Making Gone Wild!!
The drum making class was offered again at the June 2008 Healing Drum Retreat. We had a few attendee’s making drums, and a few making medicine bags. Kaye, our drum making teacher, brought lots of supplies. She had committed herself to making 20 drums for a fundraiser that would provide funds for children to attend future events at the retreat center.
Several people joined in for the workshop to make drums for the fundraiser instead of for themselves. In fact, once we finished the first round of drum making we continued making drums. We moved into a graceful synergy that flowed with great vigor, and next thing we knew it was midnight, and we had 17 drums on the tables!
This amazing event felt like a master drum making class - we were able to make not just one drum, but continue to practice our skills through the evening. Thanks Kaye, what a great class! Can we do it again?
